Salutations. I’m Dr. Whitaker – a border collie of considerable charm, excellent manners, and an absolutely essential opinion on squirrels.
I’m fully kennel trained and genuinely good in it – I settle in without a fuss, which makes travel and downtime a breeze. On leash, I’m still working on my manners (I can be a bit of a puller when I’m excited about where we’re headed), but I make up for it by absolutely loving a good run alongside a bike.
I’m house trained. I sit and wait before meals, before going through doors, and before accepting pets from strangers. I know Sit, Come, Okay, Off, and Hey, and I’ve graduated from No Teeth entirely – nothing but polite mouths over here now. I do best with corrections delivered calmly and firmly, and I rarely need to hear the same one twice. Unless I’m really excited. Which happens.
I love kids, other dogs, and pretty much everyone, but I match the energy in the room, so supervision during high-excitement moments is appreciated. Fair warning: my prey drive for rabbits, squirrels, gophers, and most birds is essentially non-negotiable. Cats – jury’s still out.
But underneath all that energy, I’m honestly the sweetest guy – I love fetch and a good run in the yard, but what I really live for is curling up next to you and soaking up every bit of affection you’ve got. I’ll lean into a good ear scratch like it’s my job, and I’m a total snuggler once the excitement winds down. And almost every time I have a big stretch, I follow it with a long, dramatic “Awoooo” so you’ll always know where I am.
I’m a high-energy goofball with excellent bones, a great kennel attitude, and a heart made entirely for cuddling. Come meet me. I’ll sit for it.
Love, Dr. Whitaker
