Hi, I’m Grizzly! I’m a 3 year old Carolina dog mix, and yes, I’m a big boy… 91 lbs of pure love. I’m working my way down to a leaner, healthier 80 lbs, though it’s honestly a bit of a mystery how I got here since I’m actually a picky eater who needs company just to sit and eat my meals. Things I love: walks. Car rides. WALKS. I do the most ridiculous happy hops and tippy taps when you even ask if I want to go, my humans say it’s the best part of their day. I also have a full sized basketball that I consider my soulmate. Other toys are fine. The basketball is everything. I’m great on a leash for a guy my size, though fair warning, if a squirrel or rabbit crosses my path, hold on tight because my prey drive kicks into high gear. I do wonderfully with cats, I’m respectful with my foster sister, a tiny pug, and I know full well she’s the boss. I’ve been great with puppies too. I can be a little selective with other dogs, especially dominant males aren’t really my thing, so I do best with slow, proper introductions. Because of my breed, I’m naturally cautious and wary of new people, especially when they’re coming into my home, yard, or space. This is something my foster family is actively working on with me, using patience and positive reinforcement, and letting me approach new people on my own terms rather than the other way around. I’m still adjusting to city life too, so certain loud noises can spook me. Because of my wariness with strangers, I’d do best with kids older than 12 who are dog savvy, since fast, unexpected movements and louder voices make me extra nervous. Why you’ll love me: I am SO loyal. Mornings mean full body hugs and kisses. Oh and I am kennel trained, I don’t love to go in but a gentle guide to my crate and treat work well and I am totally quiet all night long! I can also be trusted outside of my crate as I don’t destroy anything! A perfect gentleman! I take my job as guard dog very seriously and I am fiercely protective of the ones I love. Underneath it all, I’m just a big, silly, sweet baby looking for patient people who will keep working with me and love me for exactly who I am. Could that be you?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
