Hi! My name is La Romana, but my friends call me Mona!
I'm a 5-month-old Pitbull/Shepherd mix, which means I'm equal parts sweet snuggle bug and energetic goofball. My foster family says I have a heart of gold and enough puppy energy to power a small city.
I love playing with other dogs and would happily spend my day wrestling, zooming, chasing toys, and investigating absolutely everything. Emphasis on EVERYTHING. If my energy isn't directed toward something productive, I may decide that your shoe,my bowl, a forgotten sock, or that thing you accidentally left on the counter is my next project. What can I say? I'm a puppy, and the world is fascinating! But, I am currently in a “puppy manners and socialization” training class!
I can be a little shy when I find myself in new situations. I like to take a moment to look things over and decide they're safe before jumping in. Once I warm up, though, my sweet and playful personality shines through. A little patience goes a long way with me!
Chewing is one of my favorite hobbies, so I'll need lots of appropriate toys to help me make good life choices. The good news? Once I've burned off all that puppy energy, I'm more than happy to curl up beside you for cuddles and naps.
I'm working hard on my manners. I'm learning bell training and house training. My foster mom is even taking me to puppy classes. I also practice waiting for permission before eating my meals. Sometimes my tummy says "GO NOW!" but I'm learning that patience earns praise.
I've met a cat a couple of times and honestly wasn't very impressed. I looked at it, decided it wasn't a dog, and moved on with my day. While proper introductions are always important, my foster family thinks I would probably do just fine with feline roommates.
The leash thing? Well, let's just say we're still negotiating the terms of that arrangement.
I haven't spent much time around kids, but I'm a very sweet girl and would likely do well with a family willing to help me continue learning. One thing we're working on is my habit of jumping up to say hello. In my defense, I just get REALLY excited to meet people and sometimes forget that not everyone wants a puppy-sized hug flying at them.
I'm looking for a family that understands puppies, enjoys training, and is ready to help me become the amazing dog I'm growing into. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will make you laugh, keep you active, and then snuggle up with you at the end of the day, I might just be your girl.
Love, La Romana
