Hi, I’m Quartz! I’m a Great Pyrenees mix, which means I am majestic, fluffy, and come with enough hair to knit a second dog. If you’re not ready to find white fur in your coffee, your car, and somehow your sock drawer, here’s your warning. Worth it though. Obviously. I am a certified people enthusiast. Kids, adults, the delivery driver who was just trying to do his job, I love them all equally and without discrimination. I don’t jump on guests, I don’t bark when people come over, and I know how to sit. I’m also figuring out that toys are actually pretty fun, and leash walking is coming along great considering I had never even seen a leash before joining the rescue. I’m a quick learner when something makes sense to me. I just like to think things through first. Dogs are where things get a little more nuanced. I am dog selective, and any new dog in my life will need a proper, slow introduction because I am not a “wing it and hope for the best” kind of girl. The right match is a calm, submissive dog who isn’t pushy, isn’t loud, and isn’t about to come barreling into my personal bubble. Get that part right and I can absolutely be a wonderful dog friend. My foster pug sister and I are proof of that. I do have two firm rules for any dog housemates: stay out of my food bowl and stay out of my crate. People are welcome anywhere they please. Dogs, however, should read the room. My crate is my sanctuary and I settle in like an absolute angel, silent all night and during the day without a peep. Getting me INTO said sanctuary currently requires what my foster mom lovingly calls a gentle assist and a little encouragement for my 90lb self, but once I’m in? Perfection. Silence. Serenity.
