Hi there! I'm Georgia, and I have to tell you, life has gotten so much better lately. When I first arrived at my foster home, I was pretty skinny and honestly, everything felt overwhelming. I was so nervous that I wouldn't even walk through a doorway on my own! My foster had to go through first and leave the door open, waiting patiently until I felt brave enough to follow. It took me a couple weeks, but now I bounce right through that once-scary door like it's nothing. Doorways: 0, Georgia: 1. I'm telling you this because I might need the same patience when I first come to your home, but I promise I'll get there. I've conquered one door, I can conquer them all. The best part about feeling better? Discovering how much I love so many things! I've done really well living with my foster sister, a small pug, and I also got along great with my foster mom's other dachshund foster who was recently adopted. I lived with another dog before coming to Bright Eyes too! I've also been tested with puppies and did wonderfully. However, I can be selective with certain dogs, so proper introductions are important and we would need to ensure I could cohabitate with any potential adopter's dogs before finalizing an adoption. And guess what? I also do well with cats! I met two tabby cats and was very respectful of them. A canine companion who's a good match, trips to the dog park, or a chill cat roommate would be my dream come true! And people? Oh, I love demanding pets from anyone who will give them. Call me a "good girl," "special girl," or "pretty baby" and watch my tail go wild! Speaking of my tail, they've nicknamed me "Thumper" because it thumps on the ground like crazy anytime you look my way, say hello, or even when I just hear you coming from the other room. I'm basically free floor entertainment. No need for a drum set when you've got me around. I'm a pretty easy roommate, if I do say so myself. I'm fully house trained and will stand by the door when I need to go out. I rarely bark unless a stranger walks by the back alley or I hear a car door slam in the evening. Very important matters that require my professional security opinion. I walk really well on leash without pulling, though I can be somewhat reactive to other dogs I see on walks and will bark at them. Because I'm very food motivated, my foster mom has been working with me on this, and I'm learning fast. Turns out I'm highly trainable when cheese is involved. Who knew? I sleep quietly in my kennel all night and don't make a fuss during the day either. Model tenant, really. I've recently discovered the joy of fetch and tug, and they're quickly becoming my favorite games! And because I'm very food motivated, training me is a breeze (though you might want to keep an eye on those counters. I consider myself more of a "food enthusiast" and I take my research seriously). My gorgeous fur? I have lots of it, which means I need regular brushing, but honestly, I absolutely love being brushed. It's the highlight of my day. Well, that and staring at the counter. I may be a little timid when meeting new people or exploring new places, but I warm up quickly, especially in a calm, predictable environment. What I'm really looking for is a patient family who will give me a little time to settle in and show them just how gentle, sweet, loyal, and affectionate I am. Honestly, I would make the best family dog ever. I've come so far already (from "afraid of doors" to "confident walker") and I can't wait to blossom even more in my forever home!
